Llanes of Brockton October 17, 2004 Jose A. Llanes 75 years. Husband of Edna (Mercure) Llanes. Father of David Llanes and his wife Kathy of Brockton; Andrea Babasade and her husband Wolfgang of New Jersey; Victor Llanes and his wife Jane of Pembroke; Paul Llanes and his wife Cathy of So. Yarmouth; Maria Birk and her husband Daniel of Brockton; James Llanes and his wife Debora of Bridgewater; Joseph Llanes and his wife Debora of W. Bridgewater and Felicia Carter and her husband Gary of Lakeville. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Devoted companion of Lillian Fernandez of Brockton and her children Juan Pablo, Alex Fernandez, Wanda DeCabral, Saul Antonio and her 7 grandchildren.

Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 10 am. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 am. Obituary

Mr. Llanes died Sunday evening at his home under the care of hospice after a lengthy illness. He was born in Laredo, Texas a son of the late Matilde and Andrea (Puente) Llanes. Following his graduation from Laredo High School he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps where he served for 25 years during WW II, Korea and Viet Nam. In 1970 he retired from Otis Air Force Base with rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

In 1971 Mr. Llanes and his family settled in the Campello section of Brockton. He operated a television repair shop in Brighton.

Mr. Llanes received his bachelor degree in psychology from Bridgewater State College in 1979 and his masters of education in counseling in 1985.He had been employed as a counselor for the Brockton DSS in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. He also worked as a counselor for the Bridgewater State prison during the same period.

Mr. Llanes was one of the founding members of the Brockton Spanish Alcoholic Anonymous group “poco a poco”.He was a life member of the Brockton VFW Post 1046 and loved golf and watching boxing. He also enjoyed reading his newspapers and solving crossword puzzles.

In addition to his wife, children and companion he is survived by his brothers and sisters Santiaga Guerro, Ignacia Miyao, Carmen Nuonz and David Llanes all of California, Victor Llanes of Hawaii and Emma Gonzalez of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Paulina Guttierz and Maria Llanes.
