Mary "Mamie" (Soares) Silvia, age 99 of Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly of Somerset, passed away on Feb. 8, 2014. She was the wife of the late Ernest Silvia and the daughter of the late Jacinto and Calminha (Rego) Soares. Prior to retiring, Mary worked as a Sewing Machine Operator in the Garment Industry and loved to go to the Casinos in Connecticut & Florida.
She is survived by her children: Ernest J. Silvia (wife Vivianne) and Evelyn L. Perron (widow of Robert) all of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Pauline Bennett (husband Jack) of Allen, TX; 2 sisters: Marie Erickson of Swansea and Alice Soares of Fall River; 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late John, Jesse, & Frank Soares, Isabel Rodrigues, Valentina Montgomery, & Caroline Therrien.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on SATURDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
