LOWELL: Lawrence A. "Larry" Marks, age 61, a resident of South Lowell for 36 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital, with his family at his side, on Saturday, February 1, 2014, following a brief illness.
He was the beloved husband of Deborah A. (Shelley) Marks, with whom he celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on January 29, 2014.
Born in Everett on November 14, 1952, he was the son of the late Lawrence R. Marks and the late Faith M. (Phillbrook) (Marks) Carey.
Larry was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1970. Following graduation, he attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a B.S. Degree in both Civil and Mechanical Engineering.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the Baxter Company, formerly C.R. Bard, of Wilmington.
Larry enjoyed playing with his grandkids, touring New England Lighthouses and constructing water/pond landscape features.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by one son, Lawrence A. Marks, II and his fiance Shirley Champoux of Lowell; one daughter, Kariann Riley and her husband Sean of California; his late son Jonathon's fiance, Nadine Chesbrough of Lowell; ten beloved grandchildren; one brother, Michael R. Marks of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Billie Jean Marcley and her husband Howard of Tewksbury, Linda Joy Carey of Lowell, Annette and Janette Marks both of Manchester, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
Larry was the father of the late Jonathan A. Marks, who passed away on September 18, 2010.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 6, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Interment at Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., # 400, Waltham, MA 02451
