H. Victor Pelchat, age 98, of Norton and Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.
Porn in Providence, Rhode Island on December 23, 1915, he was a loving son of the late Hilaire J. and Mary Jane (Dupuis) Pelchat.
Vic grew up and was educated in Norton, and was a 1934 graduate of Norton High School. Upon graduation he began his first job at the former Defiance Bleachery Co. in Norton. He later served his country as a member of the Untied States Army Medical Corps during WWII, prior to be honorably discharged with the rank of TEC 4.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Pelchat had worked as a security officer at Atlantic Towers in Fort Lauderdale and when younger had been employed as a former Clerk for the Attleboro Scholl Dept., as a manager at Old Colony Hardware in Norton and as a maintenance buyer in the trucking division of Fernandes Super Market in Norton.
Vic spent his time living between Norton and Fort Lauderdale and was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and St. Sebastian’s Church in Fort Lauderdale.
He was the devoted brother of Brother Eli Pelchat, C.S.C. of Valatie, New York, Louis Pelchat and his wife Alice of Norton and the late Eloi Pelchat, Philibert Pelchat , and Lea Eames. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
His Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A. M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis cemetery, Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 7th from 5:00 -8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
