Laconia--Gertrude Poire Moody, 85, formerly of Winter Street, Laconia, died peacefully, with her family at her side, at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown on Thursday, January 30, 2014. The family extends their thanks to the Hillsborough County Nursing Home for the care given to Mrs. Moody.
Mrs. Moody was born July 6, 1928 in Laconia, N.H., the daughter of the late Raymond G. and Jeanette (Lavoy) Poire.
Mrs. Moody was a longtime resident of Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1947. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
Mrs. Moody had been employed by New England Telephone – Verizon for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1985 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed her cats.
Survivors include a sister, Patricia Berry, of San Antonio, Texas and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moody was predeceased by her former husband, Wendell Moody, and by her brother, Robert Earl Poire.
A Calling hour will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 9:30AM-10:30AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
Following the calling hour, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM at St. Andre Bessette Parish at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
Spring Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.
