Joan B. (Woznicki) Marier, 82, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at UMass Medical Center, University campus in Worcester.
Joan leaves her husband of 61 years; Adelard L. ‘Del’ Marier, 3 sons; Leon A. Marier and his wife Carol of Webster, Wayne R. Marier and his fiancée Linda of Putnam,CT., and Glen A. Marier of Hurricane, West Virginia, and a daughter; Janet A. O’Rourke of Webster, a sister; Alice Carrierie and her husband John of North Oxford, 15 grandchildren,3 great grandchildren , a sister-in-law; Virginia Woznicki of Webster and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard B. Woznicki who died in 1989.
Joan was born in Webster, daughter of the late Bruno J. and Parmelia C. (Plasse) Woznicki and lived here all her life.She was a 1949 graduate of Bartlett High School and was the an outstanding athlete for the school in archery, also captain of the girls basketball team , captain of the softball team ,a cheerleader and was a drummer in the Bartlett band. She was also a senior tap-dancer and loved going to bingo.
Joan worked in the family business, the former Bruno’s Citgo Station for many years, and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Shrewsbury, where she retired.
Calling Hours for Joan will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 6PM to 8PM in the ROBERT J.MILLER FUNERAL HOME and LAKE CHAPEL, 366 School St.
The Funeral will be Thursday, February 6,2014 with a Mass at 10 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 18 East Main St., burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery.
