New Bedford – Tony Saltao, age 58 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday February 1, 2014 at New Bedford Health Care Center after a strong battle with a long illness. He was born in Angola, Africa, the son of Maria Manuela (Simões) and the late Antonio Saltão.
Tony moved to this country 54 years ago and worked as a Commercial Fisherman.
He was a devoted son to his parents, a best friend to his sister, Rosa, and her family and to his beloved Pam. He was a lover of animals especially his cat, Goldie.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Manuela S. Saltão of New Bedford; a sister, Rosa B.S. Olivier and her husband, Alan, of Somerset and a nephew, André Olivier, as well as his longtime companion, Pam Talbot, of New Bedford.
Visiting hours for Mr. Saltao will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. with a Religious Service to take place during visitation. Cremation will follow. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
