STIMPSON, Atty. Robert Burbank of South Yarmouth formerly of Wellesley Hills and Fort Myers, FL. January 31, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Sallie (Johnson) Stimpson. Born March 2, 1934 in Boston, he was the son of the late Richard Burbank Stimpson and Sarah (McDonald) Stimpson. Survived by a son, John B. Stimpson of New York City and a daughter, Susan E. LeHan and her husband Lawrence of Darien CT. He was the grandfather of Sarah, Katherine, and William LeHan.
Robert grew up on Commonwealth Avenue in Newton, MA and was a graduate of Rivers Country Day School in Weston, MA. He went on to continue his education, graduating from Harvard and Boston College Law School. He served his country in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant.
Robert worked as a Law Clerk for the late Massachusetts Chief Justice G. Joseph Tauro before becoming an attorney in the law firm of Jaffee and Tauro, which would later become Jaffee and Stimpson.
Mr. Stimpson had a life long love of baseball. He was a dedicated Little League coach in Wellesley; he was privileged to have visited every Major League Baseball ballpark in the US; and he worked during his retirement years as a ticket usher at the Spring Training Field for the Boston Red Sox in Fort Myers, FL, an experience he enjoyed immensely along with many games of catch with his son and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rte. 16), WELLESLEY, Thursday, February 6th from 9:30-10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul's Church, Wellesley at 11:00 am.
