Obituary

EARL D.McKINNEY,

Of Plainville, MA, died Sunday evening, January 26, 2014, at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA after a sudden illness. He was 72.

Born in North Westminster, Vermont, to the late Earl T. and Dorothy M. (Boutin) McKinney he was raised and educated in Vermont. He had been a Plainville resident since 1997.

Mr. McKinney had been employed for 20 years as a maintenance technician at the North Hill Living Care Center in Needham, MA retiring in 2010. Mr. McKinney operated his own business installing carpet in the Uppervalley Area for many years.

He was a past President of the Lebanon, NH Eagles (now located in Canaan, NH), a former member of the Elks Club in Lebanon, NH and a past member of the Grafton County Sherriff’s Auxiliary.

An avid reader and learner, he was very adept both electronically and mechanically being able to fix or repair things ranging from electronics to auto body work. He was an excellent cook who enjoyed watching “Western’s” and tinkering.

Mr. McKinney is survived by his children, Duane McKinney of Enfield, NH, Christine Roberts of Canaan, NH James McKinney of Croydon, NH and Amy McKinney of Hartford,VT, his longtime companion, Alice (Wise) Gero and her children, Duane Gero of No. Attleboro, MA and Daniel Gero of Newtonville, MA his sisters, Pat Belisle, Charlotte Lyman, Priscilla Burgess, Bonnie Vitagliano and Alice Whitney, his brothers, Lawrence McKinney, Roland McKinney and Bruce McKinney and his former spouse, Margaret (Slack) McKinney. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Debra Jean, his brothers, Thomas, William and Richard “Ricky” McKinney and his great granddaughter Madison.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Earl's Life on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Grafton County Uppervalley Senior Center, 10 Campbell Street, Lebanon, NH from 2-4 p.m.

Elizabeth McKinney Brasco of the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home in Millis, MA is assisting the Family with arrangements.
