Abington – Shirley M. (Fields) McIver 72, died Friday January 31 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael McIver.
Shirley was born and raised in Arkansas, but had been a resident of Abington for more than forty years.
Prior to her retirement she had worked for sixteen years in the housekeeping department of South Shore Hospital.
Shirley had been a familiar face in Abington as she volunteered many hours at both the Town Hall and the Senior Center in town.
She had enjoyed traveling with her husband Michael, and loved to spend time with her many friends.
She is survived by her children Michele Singelais and her husband Kenneth of NH, Nicole Tierney of FL, Shawn McIver of Abington, and Mark McIver and his wife Michelle of Pembroke, and her sister Ladene Raney of Illinois. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kenneth Singelais and his wife Lisa, Kevin Singelais, Meghan Ann Singelais, William McIver, Jr., Michael Tierney, Jennifer Tierney, Matthew McIver, Daniel McIver, Alycia McIver, and Savannah McIver, and her great grandchildren Kaelyn, Haylie and Skylar Singelais as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William McIver.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday February 5 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday February 4 from 4-8 PM.Donations may be made in her name to the Abington Senior Center, 441 Summer St., Abington, MA 02351.
