Dorothy (Benevides) Sylvia, age 80, of New Bedford passed away January 30, 2014. She was the wife of the late Gilbert E. Sylvia, and daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Arruda) Benevides. Dorothy was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. John of God Parish.
She is survived by her two grandsons; Todd Nunes and Eric Thomas, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Cheryl Nunes, and sister of the late brother; Frank Benevides Sr. and Manuel Benevides.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River MONDAY at 10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 11:00 A.M. preceded by calling hours from 9-10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
