Muriel A. Hirsch) Skiba, 81, of Melrose died peacefully January 30 at Massachusetts General Hospital.
She was born in New York City, New York, June 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Samuel and Clara (Bell) Hirsch.
Muriel will be lovingly remembered for her deep love of animals, music, books, and nature. She had an enduring love of learning, and her keen intelligence remained with her until the end of her life. A staunch advocate for animal rights, she was likewise a kind and compassionate friend, and always devoted and loving mother. Muriel loved to laugh and to share in small everyday joys.
Muriel is survived by her daughters, Karen Ramirez of Sharon and Justine Skiba, and her son-in-law Paul Ramirez of Woodstock, New York.
She is also survived by her grandson Leland James of Sharon.
A private memorial service will be held.
