FALL RIVER… Valter M. Sousa, 65 of Fall River passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his home following a long illness.
He was the husband of Lucia Fatima (Nunes) Sousa of Fall River.
Born in Terceira, Azores, he was a son of Fernanda (Santos) Cabral of East Providence and the late Jose Sousa.
Mr. Sousa worked as a chef at Marisqueira Azores Restaurant, Fall River, and was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church, Fall River. He was a veteran of the Portuguese Army and enjoyed writing cookbooks.
Along with his loving wife and mother, survivors include 3 daughters; Cidalia Neves and Sonia Sousa, both of Terceida, Portugal, Filipa Sousa of Sao Miguel, Azores, and 3 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Jose Sousa.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday at 8 AM from SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at Espirito Santo Church, 311 Alden St. Fall River. Interment will be in Gates of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 5 – 8 PM.
