Obituary

Joseph B. Cannistraro, 78, of Medway died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Sullivan) Cannistaro who died in 2009.

Born in Waltham on February 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Carmelo and Susin (Barcellona) Cannistraro.

Mr. Cannistraro grew up in Waltham and was a resident of Medway since 1968. He was a machinist at Thermo Jarrell Ash Corp. in Franklin for many years until his retirement.

Mr. Cannistraro was a member of the Medway Lions Club and was an avid New England sports fan. He liked fishing, golfing and bowling and was a member of the “Wednesday Night A**hole Bowling League.”

Mr. Cannistraro was the biggest supporter of all his children’s endeavors.

He is survived by a daughter, Michelle M. Cannistraro of Medway and a son, Michael “Canman” Cannistraro and his wife Angela of Medway and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Josephine Barry and Florence Grubbs.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m.

Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Medway Lions Club, P.O. Box 132, Medway, MA 02053.
