Obituary

Worcester – Barbara (Burlingame) Spencer, 81, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, January 28th in the Lutheran Home of Worcester after a long illness.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years Robert E. Spencer; a son, Worcester Firefighter Michael Spencer and his wife Deborah of Worcester; a daughter, Linda Morrow of Holden; a brother Arthur Burlingame Jr. of Leicester; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Spencer was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur Burlingame Sr. and Mary (Fleming) Burlingame. She is also predeceased by a son, Worcester Fire Department Lieutenant Thomas Spencer who died in 1999; a son in law, Robert Morrow Jr. who died in 1999 and a sister, Madeline O’Malley.

Barbara worked for many years as an accountant clerk at the former Chess King Company. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Lutheran Home and Summit Elder Care for their compassion and skilled care that was given to Barbara.

The funeral will be held on Friday, January 31st from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Saint Peter’s Church 931 Main St. Burial will be in Saint John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are on Thursday, January 30th from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home “Patient Activity Fund” 26 Harvard Street Worcester, MA 01609.
