Obituary

Worcester - Edward W. Marculitis, 78, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 27, 2014, at the St. Mary Health Care Center. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Ann (Savage) and John Marculitis. Ed was a graduate of Commerce High and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a police officer with the Worcester Police Department, The Registry of Motor Vehicles, and retired Staff Sergeant from the Massachusetts State Police. He was a member of the Retired Troopers Assn., Lithuanian War Vets, Knights of Lithuania, and the Blue Knights. Ed enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, and vacationing on the Cape.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Joan E. (Grigas) Marculitis; two daughters, Cynthia A. Marculitis of Worcester and Charlene Sclamo and her husband, Peter, of Rutland; one son, John M. Marculitis and his wife, Terri, of Hopkinton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Marculitis, of Shrewsbury; and eight grandchildren: Alicia, Lauren, John, James, Cassandra, Allison, Emily, and Jennifer. He was predeceased by a son, Edward R. Marculitis (2006).

The funeral service will be held from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street on Friday, Jan. 31, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 25 Fales Street. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held at Nordgren's on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
