Catherine M. McGilvray, age 66, a longtime Woburn resident passed away peacefully on January 26th, at the Winchester Hospital following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Joseph D. McGilvray Jr. together sharing 42 years of marriage.
"Cathi" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was born in Somerville and was one of three children of the late Frederick J. and Alice L. (Murphy) Stack. She was raised in Arlington and was a proud graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Brighton. Cathi worked as the Activities Director for the Brookhaven Assisted Living in Lexington where she was employed for nearly twenty years. In her leisure time Cathi enjoyed knitting, going to bingo and cooking. One of her greatest passions was being an avid fan of the all the major Boston sport teams. She also enjoyed participating in different fantasy football leagues and was proud of her championship seasons.However, Cathi's greatest joy was playing the role of nana to her five loving grandchildren. She cherished and looked forward to caring for them whenever she was needed. She loved being their number one supporter and fan in all their different activities and sporting events.
In Addition to her beloved husband Joseph, Cathi is survived by her devoted children, Jennifer Driscoll and her husband Robert of Wilmington, Joseph D. "Jay" McGilvray III and his wife Daniela of Reading. She was the loving nana of Benjamin, Andrew and Josephine McGilvray, Abigail and Matthew Driscoll. Cherished sister of MaryAnn Tocio of Concord and Frederick Stack of Boston.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, January 30th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
