Alfred S. Reed, Jr. passed away October 14, 2004 at the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley.
Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday October 16, 2004 from 5:00 pm until7:00 pm. The funeral service will be Sunday in Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks at 2:00 pm on Sunday, with Dr. Randy Bain and Bro. David Freeman officiating. Committal services will be in Oak Hil Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Polly M. Reed, a son Al Reed and a daughter, Lou Ann Holt all of Water Valley. He is also survived by four granddaughters. They are Mandy Holt, Lee Ann Holt , Alana Reed and Kelsey Kate Reed all of Water Valley.
Mr. Reed was a retired teacher and Superintendent of the Water Valley School System. He served on the board of the Mississippi School Superintendent Assoc., was a member of the Mississippi Retired Public Employees Assoc., and a member of the local VFW.
Mr. Reed was a member of the First Baptist Church of Water Valley and held the office of treasurer for many years.
Serving as pallbearers are Dr. Paul Odom, Bobby Cox, Rodney Childress, Rayford Edgar, Reed Thompson, Charles Crain, Bryan Gilley, and Walker Hurdle. The Honary pallbearers are the entire class of "Dr. Odom's Sunday School Class"
Mr. Reed served in the military as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
