WEBSTER – Wayne H. Seachrist, Jr., 81, of 14 Stoughton Ave., died Friday, October 15, at home after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 23 years, Estelle D. (Rouleau) Seachrist; a step-son, David Meagher of Webster; 2 step-daughters, Marilyn Kokocinski of Webster and Donna Lagano of Oakley, CA; a brother West B. Seachrist of Abbotstown PA; 2 sisters, Mary Jane Miller of Lancaster, PA and Lois Backer of Commerce City, CO; eleven grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Ray Seachrist who died in 1977 and by a step-son Daniel B. Meagher who died in May of this year.
He was born in Harrisonburg, VA, a son of Wayne H. and Florence (Bransby) Seachrist, Sr. He graduated from Mount Clinton High School. He lived in Virginia for 65 years before moving to New Hampshire in 1988 and then to Webster in 2002.
Mr. Seachrist was a teacher of small engine repair at the Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center in Fishersville, VA for many years retiring in 1988. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Webster. He enjoyed working with his hands and train collecting, he built a victorian dollhouse and was proficient at small engine repair. He also enjoyed Bible study and had preached several Sunday sermons.
The funeral will be held Monday, October 18, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, with a service at 11:00 AM in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 7 First Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday October 17, in the funeral home.
