Glynn Wallace, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, October 16, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Bobby Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 P.M. Friday.
Mr. Wallace was born July 12, 1922, in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Wilson Ulysses and Mary Gertrude Wilkie Wallace. He was raised in the Holt Community and lived in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties most of his life. Mr. Wallace served in the United States Army, European Theatre, during World War II and was awarded The American Service Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. He retired after thirty-two years with the Georgia Department of Agriculture as a Meat Inspector at Lowell Packing Company and a former Egg Inspector. He was a former employee of Harper Motor Lines, Seaboard and Atlantic Coastline Freight Delivery, Veterinarian assistant in livestock with Dr. A.L. Stewart and Dr. Paul McDonald, Co-Owner/Operator of Sinclair Station, a farmer, he moved people and he dipped turpentine. Mr. Wallace was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Veterans of Foreign War.
Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife: Wilma Huey Wallace, Fitzgerald; three sons: Pete Stubbs, Stockbridge, GA, Ralph Wallace, Talladega, AL and Harold G. Wallace, Jr., Manchester, GA; one daughter: Kristie Wallace Thompson, Fitzgerald; eleven grandchildren and Fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother: Clyde Wallace, Cochran, GA; nephews and nieces: Bo Yancey, Fitzgerald, David Yancey, Coco Beach, FL, Wynona Browning, Melbourne, FL, Joyce Garris, Daytona Beach, FL and Vic Wallace, Dublin, GA.
