Obituary

SPENCER: William A. McNamara 89 of Point Eastalee Dr., died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in Quaboag Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in W.Brookfield after a brief illness.He was the husband of Margaret R. (Courville) McNamara who died in 2003. He leaves his daughters Marjorie A. Montville and her husband Alan and Jean M. Stuart and her husband Raymond all of No.Brookfield, his close companion and “lady friend”, Lorraine Monette of Spencer, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Kenneth Riel and a sister Mary DeCosta.Bill was a clerk in the U.S. Post Office in Worcester for 29 years, retiring in 1984. Born in Worcester, he was the son of William J. and Marion E. (Rogers) McNamara and later served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Main South Post 341 American Legion in Worcester and the Senior Citizens Club of Leicester. He loved playing the violin and was a longtime member of the Old Fiddlers Club of Rhode Island. He enjoyed sailing, kayaking and playing cribbage.Bill’s funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, from 5 to 7p.m. in the funeral home.
