Lillian H. Staples (Jennison), 89, a lifelong resident of Canton, died peacefully in her home early Sunday.
A proud “townie”, she graduated from Canton High School in 1941. Lillian served as a Navy WAVE during WWII. She was a member of the Universalist Church of Canton (now First Parish Unitarian Universalist – Canton). Other community activities included the Canton Community Club, the American Legion Beatty Post #24, Girl Scout Leader, choir singer, and volunteer at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton. Lillian enjoyed travelling, camping, cribbage, and Scrabble.
Lillian is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Ralph W. Staples of Canton; her loving daughter Susan G. Staples and husband Ze-Li Dou of Texas; loving daughter Carol A. Seaman and husband Donald G. Jr. of Attleboro; brother John Jennison of Canton; sister Elinor Wedge of Easton; brother Russell Jennison of Canton; and sister Susan Seaver of Kennebunkport, Maine. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Lillian was the proud Grandmother of Lindsey, Jennessa, and Michaela Seaman, and Katherine and William Dou.
Visiting hours will be held at the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman St. Canton Wednesday, January 22, from 4-8 PM. A private burial will take place previous to the memorial service celebrating her life. The service will be held Thursday at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 1508 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lil’s memory to the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Memorial Fund.
