Carol A. Centola, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.
Carol was born in Boston on May 3, 1945, a daughter of the late Pasquale Centola and Jane (Suthons) Centola. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1962. Carol worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Summerfields Furn Company in Boston. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching all the Boston sports teams especially the Boston Red Sox.
Carol is the devoted mother of Lisa, Patricia, Richard, Candice, Marylou, Brigitte, Joseph, Michael, Stephanie and Judy. She is the loving Nana to 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Victor and Thomas Centola, Marylou Currier and the late Elizabeth Griffin, Barbara Cannata, George and Peter Centola.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carol's Funeral on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
