CHICOPEE – Jean M. “Jeannie” (Borowiec) McGuire, 53, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 19, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on April 23, 1960, a beloved daughter of the late Chester and Helen (Jedziniak) Borowiec. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She furthered her education and received an Associates Degree from Holyoke Community College. Jean was employed as the Assistant Athletic Director for the Chicopee School Department. She was a communicant of the former Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee Falls. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, John F. “Jack” McGuire. They were married on October 10, 1986 at the former Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with 27 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving daughters, Maureen K. Penna and her husband, Michael, of Hampden, Karyn B. Ardizoni and her husband, Richard, of Enfield, CT, and Kristin M. Tully of York, ME; her seven cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Sarah Penna, Samantha and Hannah Combs, and Logan, Conor, Riley, and Megan Tully; her brothers, Chester “Sam” Borowiec of Windsor, CT, and David Borowiec of Agawam; her devoted sisters-in-law, Barbara Pajak and her husband, Robert, of Chicopee and Alice McGuire of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the McGuire and Borowiec families. Her family would like to thank her devoted nieces who were so good to her, Moira Ploof of Westfield and Kara Gauthier of Chicopee. Jean also leaves a special friend, Liza Cable of Hampden; and her beloved dog, “Delia” who was constantly at her side. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving brother-in-law, James McGuire. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee Falls, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
