Obituary

BOLSTER, Marguerite Ann (O’Brien) “Peggy”, at the age of 81, of Winthrop, on January 18, 2014, peacefully at the Massachusetts General Hospital, with her daughters at her bedside after a long illness. Peggy was the devoted and cherished mother of George W. Bolster Jr. and his wife Marlene of Rowley, Jacqueline Bolster Gemme and her husband Lawrence of New Salem, MA, Michael Bolster and his companion Shirley Reid of Winthrop, and Susan Bolster of Winthrop. Peggy is also survived by her beloved grandsons George D., Christopher, and Justin Bolster. Peggy was the sister of the late John J. O’Brien Jr. and Claire (O’Brien) Finucane and her husband Norman of Smithfield RI. She had many nieces and nephews. Peggy also leaves behind George W. Bolster Sr. Although apart for many years, they remained united in their commitment to their children. Peggy was the daughter of the late Clara (McCarthy) and John J. O’Brien. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Thurs. Jan 23, at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in the St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Weds only between 2-7pm. Peggy was an animal lover who had doted on many pets over the years. Currently she leaves behind her dogs Bentley and Freeway. In lieu of flowers, she would be honored by donations in her name to be made to the MSPCA-Angell, ATTN. Donations 350 South Huntington Ave. Boston, MA. 02130. Peggy was a graduate of Winthrop High School. As a young woman, she lived on Inishmore, Aran Islands, Ireland with her much loved uncle, the late Dr. James O’Brien. She always dreamt of returning there one day. She worked briefly for New England Telephone and John Hancock before becoming a mother.
