Valerie Diane Merritt, age 46, of Monroe, GA passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Merritt was born on July 1, 1967, in Douglas, GA to Mildred Sheffield Merritt and the late James Willie Merritt.
Survivors include: her son, Dustin Cowart of Monroe, GA, daughter, Amber Cowart of Monroe, GA, mother, Midge Merritt of Monroe, GA, two sisters, Lena Ann Bowen and Glenda Carol Stinson both of Douglas, GA, three brothers, James Ronald Merritt of Statesboro, GA, James Robert Merritt of Douglas, GA, and Bryan Merritt of Monroe, GA, three grandchildren, Diane Gillespie, Tyler O’Quinn and J.C. Brannen, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, JamesWillie Merritt and brother, John William Merritt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 6-9 pm.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Church Cemetery with Rev. John Jameson officiating.
