BOWMAN - Russell Calvin "R. C." Bowman, 84, of Yulee passed away Wednesday morning, January 15, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach surrounded by his loving family.
R. C. was born November 27, 1930 in Tennessee and moved to Yulee 35 years ago from Jacksonville, FL. He attended 14th Street Church of God of Prophecy in Fernandina Beach. He was a musician and played guitar at 14th Street Church of God, Community Baptist Church in Yulee as well as many other churches over the years. R. C. was a member of the Local Machinists Union. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a generous man as well as a devoted husband and father. He was a loving, caring grandfather to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren who admired him and called him Papa.
R. C. was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Samuel Bowman; his parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Joyce Bowman of Yulee; a daughter, Susan Saylor of Dandridge, TN; four sons, Danny Fine of Palatka, FL, Dean Fine of Jacksonville, FL, Donnie Fine (Cyndie) also of Jacksonville, and Dale Fine (Lisa) of Yulee, FL; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. at 14th Street Church of God of Prophecy in Fernandina Beach. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in family burial estate in Green Pine Cemetery.
