Grafton - Albert A. Dauphinais, 84, of 115 North St. a lifetime businessman in the concrete and building industry died Sunday Oct. 28 in St. Vincent Hospital Worcester Medical Center after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years Elise M. (Champagne) Dauphinais of Grafton; one son Vincent A. Dauphinais of Ludlow; one daughter Rhonda E. Valanzola of Grafton; two sisters Janet Charest and Doris Beauregard both of North Grafton; three grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Mr. Dauphinais is predeceased by three brothers Roger Dauphinais, Emile L. Dauphinais and Armand A. Dauphinais. Mr. Dauphinais was born in Worcester son of Alfred J. and Alexina E. (Lavallee) Dauphinais.
Mr. Dauphinais was part owner of E.L. Dauphinais Inc.. He managed the Concrete Service Branch located in Southbridge in 1948. He later managed the Construction Service Branch in Wilbriham, MA from 1950 to 1987 when the business was sold. In 1992 Mr. Dauphinais along with his son re-purchased the Construction Service of Western MA.
Mr. Dauphinais was a member of St. Mary’s Church in North Grafton. He was also a member of Home Builders of Springfield and MACAPA who honored him for being one of the first businessmen in Massachusetts to be in the ready mix concrete industry. Mr. Dauphinais also served on the Board of Directors for Valley Bank in Springfield during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday October 31 at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church 17 Waterville St.. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Garden, St. Mary’s Church 17 Waterville St. North Grafton, MA 01536.
