Harold T. Cardin, age 90, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN. He was born May 7, 1923 in Desoto County, MS to the late Tilden and Ovie Roberson Cardin. Harold served in the 3rd Marine Division, 9th Regiment, 2nd Battalion of the United States Marine Corps where he participated in action against enemy forces at Bougainville, British Solomon Islands, Guam and the Marianas Islands. He was employed for a number of years with the Memphis Police Department and later worked as a painting contractor. Harold was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and O’Tuckalofa Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS. He loved his animals, enjoyed collecting antique cars and was loved by everyone he met.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Harold is survived by his wife, Ruby Taylor Cardin of Water Valley, MS; his daughter, Carol Miller (Harold) of Munford, TN; his son, James Harold Cardin (Teri) of Memphis, TN; his sister, Patricia Drischel of Hagerstown, IN; three grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Jason Cardin and Kimberly Morris; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
