Methuen, Ma. - Paul E. Buell, 62, yrs died Wednesday January 8, 2014 at the family residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Worcester, June 6, 1951 Paul was the son of Kenneth and Catherine (Johnson) Buell. He was a graduate from Denis Hall School in Alfred, Maine.
Paul began his career working at the family business, Buell’s Ice Cream, located in North Hampton, NH, making and delivering ice cream. For many years Paul was employed by AAFES Base Exchange at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH, and most recently before his retirement Paul was a Warehouse Foreman with AGFA in Wilmington, Ma.
Paul was a Communicant of Saint Monica's Church.
For 20 years Paul umpired men’s and co-ed slow pitch softball leagues throughout the seacoast area. Paul was a member of the New Hampshire JC's as well as their chaplain. Paul also was a longtime member of the Holy Name Society serving as president at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish in Hampton, New Hampshire.
He was a charter member of the Dracut Exchange Club and was an active member in the Exchange Club of Salem, NH prior to his illness. Paul was a great cook. He enjoyed experimenting with recipes and sharing them with family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Paul is survived by his wife and best friend of 24 years, Linda L. (Chabot) Buell, daughter Chelsea G. Buell, and the Family Dog “Brady.”
Survivors also include his sister Jean Gould of Meredith, NH, 2 brothers-in-laws and their wives Joseph and his wife Janis Chabot of Salem, NH, and Steven and his wife Jean Chabot of Maine, 2 sisters-in-laws Nancy Kolosha and her partner Anthony Mendonca both of Methuen, and Diane and her husband Robert Demers of Methuen, several nieces and nephews, and many relatives in England and Ireland.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Merrimack Valley Hospice for the wonderful care given to Paul.
Friends will be warmly received on Sunday January 12, 2014 from 2PM - 6PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 11 o'clock at Saint Monica's Church in Methuen with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to the New England Exchange Club Foundation, Inc. 57 Eaton Street Lawrence, Ma. 01843.
