Obituary

Mary J. Riley, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Saturday October 9, 2004 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was 86 years old.

Born October 20, 1917 in Boston Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Joseph P. Riley Sr. and Mrs. Julie (McCarthy) Riley.

She attended East Boston Public Schools, and was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Fitton Catholic High School, in East Boston.

After graduating from high school, she began her working career with the Filenes Company in the Boston Area.

After her employment with Filenes, she pursued a career opportunity with the New England Telephone Company where she spent seventeen years.

She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Association, as well as a former member of St. Johns Church in Quincy, where she was a member also of both the MA Catholic Womens Guild and the Ladies Sodality Guild. More recently she attended Our Lady Of The Lourdes Church in Brockton.

She loved to travel.

She is survived by her brother Joseph P. Riley Jr. of Stoughton and her sister Elizabeth A. Dyke of Florida. Other survivors include: several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday October 13, 2004 at 9:00 A.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27, Stoughton at 10:15 A.M. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Visiting Hours are on Tuesday October 12, 2004 from 4-7 P.M.
