LOUIS PONS

MYSTIC: Louis Pons, 83, or 2710 Gold Star Highway, Mystic died Saturday at his home.

He was born in the farmhouse at Burnetts Corner, Mystic, on February 14, 1921, the son of Emanuel and Leontine Pons. He attended the former Burnetts Corner School. He worked for 32 years at Pfizer until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid hunter and gardener who loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Card (Batty) Pons. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on November 9.

Mr. Pons is also survived by his step-daughter, Alice Mae Thompson and her husband Bill of Griswold, his son Louis Pons Jr. of Mystic, and his two daughters, Susette M. Pons Henry and her husband Bill of North Stonington, and Laraine A. Pons Main and her husband Don of Mystic.

He was a loving grandfather to his 6 grandchildren, Debbie Thomas Irwin and Robert Thomas, Michelle and Joshua Main, and Zachary and Jesse Henry and to his 3 great grandchildren, Tyler and Hunter Irwin and Katelyn Thomas.

He is also survived by his sister Gabrielle Pons Cunningham and her husband Linwood. He is predeceased by his brother, Sgt. Marcel F. Pons who died on Feb. 29, 1944 at Anzio Beach Head during WWII.

The family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday, October 12, from 6 to 8pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
