Laconia-----Nelson P. Cassavaugh II, 84, of 83 Belmont Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Monday, January 6, 2014.
Nelson was born January 30, 1929 in New London, N. H. the son of the late Bernice (Dow) and Nelson P. Cassavaugh, Sr.
Nelson was a longtime resident of the Lakes Region and worked in the construction industry. He had also been employed at Bergen-Paterson and later retired from New Hampshire Ball Bearings. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Donna (Murphy) Cassavaugh, of Laconia; three sons, Nelson P. Cassavaugh III of Methuen, Mass., Michael Cassavaugh of Exeter and Gregory Cassavaugh of Laconia; a daughter, Bonnie McKinney, of Laconia; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Terry Cassavaugh, of Barnstead; five sisters, Priscilla A. Wills of Lee, Sheila Haven, Marsha Byers and Sandy Bolduc, all of Laconia and Pam Beaudoin of Belmont and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nelson was predeceased by a daughter, Diana (Cassavaugh) Vallee; his brothers, Eugene, Kirkman, Raymond, Wayne and Clifford and by a sister, Gale Bartlett.
According to Nelson’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at the family lot in South Road, Cemetery, Belmont, N.H. Rev. James Smith, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Belmont, will officiate.
