Louis G. "Rudy" Melillo, a 55 year resident of Saugus and 25 year resident of Vero Beach, Florida, entered into eternal life on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington following an extended illness. He was 78 years old.
Rudy was born in Boston on October 5, 1935, a son of the late Nicholas Melillo and Concetta (Donnarumma) Melillo. He grew up in Somerville and Medford and was educated in the Medford Public School system where he graduated from Medford High School in 1953. Rudy served his country with pride and honor in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for 8 years. He worked for many years as a mechanic for several industrial companies. He was a member and past Grand-Knight for Saugus Knights of Columbus, Council # 1829 and the Park Associates of Boston. Rudy was involved with Saugus American Little League for many years.
Rudy is the beloved husband of 58 years to Virginia L. "Ginny" (Aloise) Melillo. He is the devoted father of Kenneth N. Melillo and his wife Sharon of Saugus, Louis T. Melillo and his wife Lucy of Saugus and Christopher J. Melillo and his wife Lisa of Boxford. He is the loving Grandpa to Kenneth Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Anthony, Marissa, Tara, Harry, Brad, Nicholas, Brianna and Cameron. He is the beloved brother of Gennaro Melillo and his wife Anna of Malden, Antionetta Scanzillo of Pepperell and the late Mario Melillo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rudy's Funeral on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. Revere at 11 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
