Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Obituary
Mr. Long died Sunday morning at the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. He was born and educated in Brockton a son of the late John M. and Elizabeth (Smith) Long. He remained a lifelong resident of the city. He had also attended Massasoit Community College.
During WW II Mr. Long served in the Army Air Corps as a radio mechanic.
Mr. Long retired from the Brockton VA Medical Center after many years as a steam fitter. He was a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and former member of the Ward Two Club.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and cooking.He had been a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
In addition to his wife of 58 years he is survived by three daughters and two grandchildrenHe is survived by two sisters Virginia Curtis of Brockton, Margaret McGuire of W. Yarmouth, a brother Joseph Long of Hyannis and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Francis, Thomas and Edward Long.
