Obituary

CHICOPEE – Patricia A. (Seward) Brill, 76, a longtime resident of Holyoke and Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, January 3, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall North in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving daughter, Christine, and her son-in-law, Robert, along with her wonderful caregivers from Heritage Hall North. She was born in Holyoke on March 21, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Michael J. and Margaret A. (Cronin) Seward. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated in 1955 from Holyoke High School and lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to Chicopee. Patricia and her late husband, Noiel, became “snowbirds” for many years as they enjoyed the winter months in sunny Florida. She was employed for 16 years and retired as manager at the Bank of America on Appleton Street in Holyoke. Most of all, Patricia was a wonderful homemaker to her family. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of Holy Cross Church in Holyoke and Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her husband, Noiel R. Brill, Jr., who was Called Home on December 30, 2008. They were married on August 27, 1955 at Holy Cross Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 53 years together. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Doreen T. (Brill) Rodak who was Called Home on February 24, 1996; her brother, Jack Seward; her sister, Barbara Pienkowski; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law of the Brill family, Doreen Fontaine and her husband, Stanley Kusiak. She leaves her six children, Noiel R. Brill, III and his wife, Janice, of Granby, Arlene M. Brill-Rhodes and her husband, Dale, of Amherst, Michael J. Brill of Wakefield, RI, Daniel J. Brill of North Carolina, Sharyl E. Gilpatrick and her husband, Gil, of Chicopee, and Christine T. Brill and her husband, Robert J. Dziedzic, of West Springfield; her 14 grandchildren, Kate Rodak and her husband, Noah Bertoni-Gross, Noiel R. Brill, IV, and his wife, Lauren, Lauren and Owen Brill, Adam and Meg Rhodes, Cayla and Jenna Brill, Mila Brill, Fred, Corey and Kali Gilpatrick, and Ayslin and Noiel Dziedzic; her four great-grandchildren, Bryce Bertoni-Gross, Hunter and Charlotte Brill, and Aiden Gilpatrick; her three sisters, Margaret Parenteau and Jane Fournier and her partner, John Krawiec, all of Chicopee, and Judith Pratt and her husband, Richard, of Holyoke; her brother-in-law, Stanley Pienkowski of Westfield; her sister-in-law, Kathy Seward of West Springfield; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law of the Brill family, Bridget Wood and her husband, Curtis, of Westfield; her close friends who visited her weekly, Helen and Richard Owen of Chicopee; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Brill and Seward families. Her family would like to extend their thanks to Ruth’s House in Longmeadow and the caring staff at Heritage Hall North in Agawam who were so attentive during her long “Journey Home”. Her relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Saturday morning, January 11, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family at Saint Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke. Because of her long journey with Alheizmer’s Disease, her family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
