BROOKFIELD: Daniel L. Moody 67 of Martin Rd., died Friday, Jan. 3 at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Carol J. Hegarty-Moody, his son Patrick C. Moody and his wife Gretchen of Millbury, his daughter Gwenn E. Moody Hicks and her husband Charles Hicks, III of Pensacola, Fl., his sister Nina Moody Johnson and her husband John of Bedford, TX,two brothers Ronald Moody and his wife Sheila of Monmouth, Me., and Michael Moody and his wife Prudence of Fairfield, Me., three grandchildren Kyra Moody, Adam & Ashley Hicks, and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was a railroad employee for 36 years, most recently as a conductor for the Mass. Bay Commuter Rail in Boston, previously for the Boston & Maine Railroad and Amtrak before retiring in 2006.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Robert D. Moody and Sylvia (Albro) Lamothe and later graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer, and attended Thomas Business School in Waterville, Me. He served his country with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed restoring antiques, making furniture, playing golf, boating and his dogs. He lived in Charlton for 22 years before moving to Brookfield this past October.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Jan 9 at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer.
A calling hour will precede the service on Thursday from 10 to 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 136, E.Brookfield, Ma. 01515.
