Obituary

EPPING, NH: Joseph G. “Gerry” Malone, 78, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 in the Rockingham County Nursing Home. He was the devoted husband of Donna E. (Lowther) Malone with whom he just celebrated his 55th wedding anniversary.
Born in Haverhill, MA on November 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine (McCloskey) Malone. He had resided in Haverhill for many years before moving to Epping ten years ago. Gerry had also served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1963. He attended St. James High School.
Gerry was employed in the manufacturing department for the former Western Electric for thirty-eight years before his retirement in 1990. He had also once worked in the maintenance department for the City of Haverhill for many years. He was an avid fan of all the New England sports teams and enjoyed playing baseball as a young man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children, Joseph G. “Gerry” Malone of Haverhill, Michael R. Malone and his wife, Michelle of Haverhill, Patrick J. Malone and his wife, Caroline of Swampscott, Kathleen M. Judson and her husband, Robert, Sr., of Merrimac and Maureen A. Doonan and her companion, Tom Sanders of Plaistow, NH; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sr. Mildred Malone, Sr. Mary Malone and Sr. Patricia Malone all of Framingham; sister-in-law, Brenda Homan and her husband, Leo of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. James Church, 161 Winter St., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472
