HARRIMAN, TN - Mr. Robert D. Consaul Jr., age 58, a member of a large well known Tewksbury family, died Friday, January 3, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman, TN, after a lengthy illness.
Bob was born in Troy, NY, on January 10, 1955, one of nine children of the late Robert and Barbara (Bayly) Consaul, and spent his early years in N.Y. The family moved to Tewksbury in 1967, where he attended Shawsheen Valley Technical Vocational High School. He began his career as a chef in several local restaurants, and went on to become a supervisor at Lums and at W.T. Grant’s cafeterias. He was also a skilled mechanic and worked for Trombly’s motorcoach. He then spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy as a flight crew member, stationed in Jacksonville, Fl. Twenty years ago, he changed careers to become a carpenter, and had become an accomplished finish carpenter at the time of his passing.
In his leisure time, Bob played in A.P.A. pool leagues, as well as various dart leagues. His family noted he was an accomplished guitarist, and he took on a new personality when he picked up his guitar. They said he became, “the entertainer.”
He is survived by seven siblings, Deborah and her husband Edward Palumbo, and B. Ronald Consaul all of Tewksbury; Kevin Consaul and his wife Gail (Gacek) of Dracut; Bruce Consaul and his wife Rosemary (McGonagle) of Bartlett, NH; Attorney Scott Consaul and his wife Linda (Kelley) Consaul, and Diana Milley and her life partner Gerry Buzzell all of Tewksbury; Lisa Kelley and her husband Edward of Billerica; his Stepmother Marion Consaul of Great Barrington, MA; his dear friends Judy and Ray Patterson of Harriman, TN; seventeen nieces and nephews, nine grand nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Donna Vasey and nephew, Brandon Consaul.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 17, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury followed by interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Autism Society, 4340 East-West Highway, Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814 (Autism-Society.org) will be appreciated.
