Bradley “Brad” W. Calnan, 60, of Medway, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Medway on July 24, 1953, he was a son of Estin Calnan of Medway and Barbara (Jewer) Calnan of Medway.
Mr. Calnan grew up in Holliston, graduated from Holliston High School and UMASS-Amherst where he attended on a football scholarship. He had resided in New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia as well as many other places, until recently moving back to Medway.
Before his retirement, he worked for General Motors for over 20 years and had formerly worked at his family’s construction company. After retirement, he worked as a private contractor for the Chrysler Corporation.
He loved doing construction and building projects around his home and enjoyed reading, sailing, cooking and spending quality time with his friends and family. He was such a giving and loving person, always offering to give a helping hand or ear to listen. He was surrounded by loved ones for his final moments.
Besides his parents, he is survived by four children, Rebecca Buford and her husband Brandon of Delaware, Stephanie McGee and her husband Thomas of New Orleans, LA., Katrina Calnan of Medway and Branden Calnan and his fiancé Diedre Williams of Florida, his girlfriend Leslie Korn of Arlington, VA and five grandchildren, Estin, Aiden, Olivia, Gavin and Kellyn.
He is also survived by his sister Tracey Batcheller of Douglas, his brother Christopher Calnan of Upton, six nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will take place privately at the request of his family.
