Russell J. “Russ” Perry, 84 of Westport passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at home. He was the husband of Rita J. (Gagne) Perry.
Born to Joseph and Melina (Gaisson) Perry, Russ resided in Westport for most of his life and started Westport Tire Center in 1983. Russ was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle and friend. He knew how to make everyone laugh with his funny stories and jokes. He enjoyed working and only retired a few years prior to his passing. He enjoyed playing slot machines, playing cards, watching the Red Sox and Patriots, and eating out. He also enjoyed movies and reading and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in WWII.
Along with his wife and best friend of 62 years, Rita, he is survived by his five children: James Perry and his wife Deborah, Gale Fairweather and her husband Stephen, Diane Amaral and her husband Michael, Michael Perry and his wife Roberta all of Westport and Tom Perry and his fiancé Mary Lou of Fall River; his 2 sisters: Louise Amaral of Westport and Irene LaFountaine of N. Attleboro; his thirteen grandchildren; his five great grandchildren; as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone!
He was brother of the late Kenneth Perry, Ann Barlow, Claire Gardzina and Diane Perry.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, January 6, 2014 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 4 – 7 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
