Obituary

WORCESTER__Rita A. (Langevin) Guertin, 85, of 281 Grafton St., died Saturday October 9, 2004 surrounded by her family. Her husband, Lucien Guertin died Feb. 13, 1987.

She leaves her son, Norman Guertin with whom she lived, her daughter, Suzanne M. and her husband Thomas Nolan of Worcester; her grandchildren, Brian and Bonnie Murray of Bayonne, NJ; Ian and Nicole Nolan of Shrewsbury; and Leiana and Brian Anderson, of Auburn, and a soon to be great-grandson, Jackson Murray. Born in Worcester in 1918, Rita was the youngest of sixteen children in the Louis and Irene (Toupin) Langevin family. Her predeceased brothers are Gedeon, Oscar, Rene, Levi, and Edmund and her predeceased sisters are Delima, Ida, Eva, Bertha, Raphael, Alma, Bella and Lauria. Her surviving siblings are her brothers, Adelard and William and a sister-in-law, Loretta and several nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Guertin attended St. Joseph’s School. She was a Dames de Sainte Anne and she worked for many years at St. Francis Home. Rita was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church on Hamilton St., and was a bingo volunteer there. She was very active in the Save St. Joseph’s movement of 1992. She loved social gatherings with her family and friends, she cared for many members of her family in times of illness and she will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday Oct. 12 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday Oct. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m.
