Joseph N. Bergeron, Jr., 49, of New Bedford died January 1, 2014 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, MA, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph N. and Marcia (Zager) Bergeron, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Bergeron spent the majority of his life as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in the New Bedford fleet and skippered his own boat, the F/V Amanda Lynne.
He was also an avid sports fan, and a respected father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and friend.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Bergeron LePage of Dartmouth; a daughter, Amanda Bergeron of Woonsocket, RI; 2 sisters, Maureen Besse and Marrianne Fredrick, both of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Summer Bergeron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Robert Zager, Steven Bergeron, Raymond Bergeron, Paul Bergeron and Shirley Bergeron.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 11 AM in the Open Door Baptist Church, 132 Jouvette St. New Bedford. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory maybe made to his family.
