Dorothy C. (Waters) Bresnahan, 90, of Methuen passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Holy Family Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Lawrence on February 22, 1923 and raised in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Percy W. and Catherine (Hagan) Waters.
She was a 1940 graduate of Haverhill High School and was employed by Stop and Shop prior to her marriage. She was a faithful communicant of St. Monica Church in Methuen.
Dorothy enjoyed vacationing at Salisbury Beach with her extended family and spending many winters in West Palm Beach, Florida.
A thoughtful and generous mother, Nana, and Great Nana, Dorothy was predeceased in 2001 by her husband Thomas J. Bresnahan, with whom she celebrated almost 54 years of marriage, and by her brother Thomas Waters.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia C. Correia and her husband Melvin, with whom she lived, and her son Thomas J. Bresnahan, JR. and his wife Mary Jane, all of Methuen. She is also survived by grandsons Shaun P. Correia, his wife Tracey and their children Emma and Benjamin, and Michael R. Correia and his wife Tammy, all of Methuen, Mark W. Bresnahan of Somerville and granddaughter Kelly E. Bresnahan and her fiancé Denis Austin of Jersey City, NJ. She is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Bresnahan of Methuen and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, January 5th from 2-6PM at the Kennethe H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen on Monday, January 6th at 9:00AM.
