Ralph V. Mastro 86, of Natick, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a long and valiant battle with kidney disease.
He was the beloved husband of Joan L. (DeFlumere) Mastro sharing 60 years of marriage.
Born in Natick and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Pasquale “Patsy” and Josephine (Pelullo) Mastrogiacomo.
Ralph was a Lieutenant for the Natick Police Department until his retirement in 1988 and was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II.
He was a member of the Natick Elks, the Natick Sons of Italy, and the Navy Yard Association.
Ralph cherished the fun times with family at the cottage on Phillips Road on Cape Cod every July. To his children and grandchildren, he was a true Santa Claus, as he ensured that on every Christmas morning there was a menagerie of gifts under the tree for all. Ralph’s family most important to him in his life and he will be truly missed as a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters Lisa Lyons and Carolyn Mastro both of Natick, three grandchildren, Jennifer Lyons, Nicholas Lyons, and Rachel Lyons who were the light of his life, and who will miss their “Bubbie” dearly, as we all will. Also survived by his sister in law Janet Cecchi of Milford ,nephew Andrew Cecchi and his wife Barbara of Natick, his nieces, Cristina Cecchi Harvey and her husband Rick Harvey of Milford, and Carolyn Bunyon of Belmont.
He was also the brother of the late Ralph”little Ralphie” Mastrogiacomo, Nicholas Mastro, Angelina Cecchi, Florence Langton, Rose Strozzi, and Caroline Chiafaro.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday Morning beginning at 9:30 A.M. prior to the service.
