MAHER, John J. Of South Boston, December 29, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Ernestina Zenith (Alvarez). Loving father of John S. Maher of Ormond-by-the-Sea, Florida, Christine Maher of South Boston, and Michael Maher of Norwood, Massachusetts. Survived by his Sister Phyllis McGurl of Arlington, MA. Son of the late Leo F. Maher and Marie Frances (McNally). Brother of the late Leona Maher, Roberta E. Auld and Leo F. Maher, Jr. Survived by many nephews and nieces. Mr. Maher was a United States Korean War Veteran. He was a 50 year member of the Carpenters Union Local 67, retired member of the Norwood Elks Lodge, and former coach of Norwood Little League Baseball (Longhorns and the Royals). He Co-Organized the first girls Cinderella Baseball in Norwood (1975).
