
Emma Evelyn Veal Paulk, 96, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Holt Missionary Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. David Biggers and the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until the funeral hour at the church.
Mrs. Paulk was born May 10, 1917, in Washington County, Georgia, to the late Elton, Sr. and Annie M. Ennis Veal. She lived in the community most of her life and graduated from Ocilla High School. She was a homemaker and farmer.
Mrs. Paulk devoted her time to serving Holt Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active member. She was a Sunday school teacher, WMU teacher, Vacation Bible School director, and loved participating in and organizing church and family events.
She was a loving matriarch to a large family. She is survived by a son: Kyle Waldo Paulk and Les of Ocilla; a daughter: Marie P. Taylor of Irwin County; four grandchildren: Kim Barber, Karin Duckworth, Christy Taylor-Pruitt and Wink Taylor, Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Waldo Paulk, six brothers and one sister.
