Robert A. Brooks, 82, of Dartmouth died Saturday December 28, 2013 at home with family by his side.
Bob was born in the Bronx, NY and worked as an electrical engineer at Magnetic Analysis in Mount Vernon, NY for 38 years until he retired in 1994. He had eleven U.S. patents granted for work done in the development of equipment to non-destructively test metals. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion in Fairhaven. He was a third degree member of Council 14236 Knights of Columbus of St. Julie Billiart Parish in Dartmouth, as well as a member of the fourth degree Assembly No. 392 Knights of Columbus in Fall River.
He enjoyed parish work and served as Eucharistic minister and visitor to shut-ins for many years. He was a member of the Dartmouth Council on Aging and Friends of the Elderly.
He was the adored and loving husband of 58 years to Madeleine (Quenneville) Brooks, the devoted father of Linda Uchal and her husband Vincent of Dallas, TX, Allan R. Brooks of Falmouth, Michele Carr and her husband Thomas of Boxford, formerly of Fairhaven, and the late Carol E. Facchiano, and the loving and proud Grandpa of John David and Kathleen Uchal, Mackenzie and Isabel Brooks, Madeleine and Ezrie Carr, and Steve Ildefonso. He was the beloved son of the late Lester M. and Helen (Jablon) Brooks, and the beloved brother of Ann Kane of Prescott, AZ and the late Martin L. Brooks. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 Noon at St. Julie Billiart Church, with visitation at Church from 11AM – 12 Noon prior to the Mass. Following the Mass, family and friends are welcome to join the family at the Brooks home in Dartmouth. Private burial will be in the family plot at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
