Mary K. (Leddy) Shea, age 78, recently of Worcester, formerly of Norton and Cambridge passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Shea who passed away on February 11, 2009 and to whom she was wed on July 26, 1969.
Born in County Cork, Ireland on October 15, 1935, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Mary (Healy) Leddy. She grew up and was educated in Cork City, Ireland.
At the age of 18, Mary moved to the United States and settled in Cambridge. She later moved to Norton where she made her home for 40 and for the past year had resided in Worcester.
Prior to retiring in 1995, Mrs. Shea had been employed for 28 years as a Production Worker at the Polaroid Corporation in Norwood.
While living in Worcester she was a communicant of Sacred Heart/St. Catherine of Sweden Parish and was a former longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Norton.
Mary loved spending time with her family, especially with her granddaughter and the simple of pleasure of relaxing at home.
She is survived by her devoted daughter. Kellie A. Johnson and her husband Eric of Worcester and her cherished granddaughter Caetlin M. Johnson of Worcester. She was the dear sister of Sean Leddie of Cambridge, William Leddie of Rockland and the late Daniel Leddy, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her brother and sister in laws.
Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, January 2nd at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:000 in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 P.M.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 1st from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
