Michael Aaron Scanlon, age 30, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born October 26, 1983 in Oxford, MS to Kenneth Edward, Sr. and Virginia Ortiz Scanlon. Since 2004, Michael resided at NMRC in Oxford, MS. He enjoyed listening to music, playing in the water, being outside, taking car rides, and watching CNN news and Wheel of Fortune on TV. He was a member of First Christian Church in Water Valley, MS.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. David Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Reggie Clayton, Jacova Jenkins, Desmond Parham, Keon Washington, Detric Doolittle and Casey Dunn serving as pallbearers.
Michael is survived by his parents, Edward and Virginia Scanlon of Water Valley, MS; his sister, Sandra Scanlon Bennett (Chris) of Oxford, MS; two brothers, Noel Kevin Scanlon of Water Valley, MS and Kenneth E. Scanlon, Jr. (Angelique) of Weir, MS; his NMRC family: Q.T. Zinn, Bebra Herod, Leshia Stinson, Becky Robertson, Kayla Ford, Desmond Parham, Brody McKenzie, Sherry Ray, Cordarel Cook, Vijavia Scott, Bozurian Aquil, Devontra Harwell, LaShundra Wilson, Bobby Hervey, Shalynda Below, Tanice Upshaw, Tierra Goolsby, Juwanna Ewing, Jayvin Johnson, and other NMRC staff who loved and cared for him; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
